  • Dr. Bartley Pickron is a recognized expert in the minimally invasive treatment of colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. He is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah who specializes in colon and rectal surgery. Clinical interests include single site laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as the implementation of enhanced recovery protocols to minimize pain and recovery following surgery.

    Following medical school at the University of South Alabama, Dr. Pickron completed his General Surgery training at Atlanta Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Southern California and Norris Cancer Center. Dr. Pickron joined the University of Utah Health Care following 10 years of practice in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

    Dr. Pickron enjoys time outdoors particularly hiking, running, and cycling. He is an avid soccer fan. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and two children.

    Dr. Pickron is very professional in his communication. He always makes sure you understand whatever is being communicated. He has a calm demeanor and a kind way of making sure that the family is comfortable with everything. I would recommend Dr. Pickron to anyone in need of his skillset!

    He is a nice guy and seems to know a lot about the field. I would guess he is a good surgeon. But the visit was rushed and rather uncomfortable. The resident I saw before he came into the room was awful.
