  • Janice Palumbos received her masters degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of California, Irvine in 1983. She did her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. She has been a genetic counselor in the Division of Medical Genetics since 1983. Janice is board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics (1984) and the American Board of Genetic Counseling (1993).

    She is currently an Adjunt Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Utah. She is on the faculty for the University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling(UUGPGC) and is the Genetics Core Faculty member for the Utah Regional Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (URLEND). She is co-director of Clinical Rotations for the UUGPGC.

    She has a longstanding interest in children and adults with developmental disabilities, particularly rare chromosomal and genetic disorders. She has also served as consultant to the Utah Birth Defects Registry and as board member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Research interests include the genetic etiology of congenital hearing loss, and the natural history of genetic syndromes and rare chromosome abnormalities. She works in the Medical Genetics Clinic, Neurofibromatosis Clinic, Hearing Assessment Clinic, Spina Bifida Clinic and Genetic Counseling Clinic.
