Kari J. Nelson, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at the University of Utah, serving as faculty for Interventional Radiology and Cardiothoracic Imaging. Her clinical and research interests center on vascular pathology, currently focused on vascular anomalies and women’s interventions.

Dr. Nelson has given over seventy invited lectures nationally and internationally, and has published over seventy-five manuscripts and abstracts, in addition to several textbook chapters. Dr. Nelson has been honored with Fellowship of the Society of Interventional Radiology and Fellowship of the American Medical Women’s Association for her service and contributions to those societies and to the practice of medicine. Dr. Nelson was the 2022 recipient of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Women in IR Champion Award.

Outside of work, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with family and friends hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
