Dr. Thompson is wonderful at listening, being compassionate, and helping us understand our options for treatment. My daughter appreciates how she explains what she needs to do before doing the physical exam. On a past visit she showed my daughter on a stuffed animal what she was going to do for the physical exam. She can have a quiet, gentle presence which has helped my autistic daughter so much. We are very grateful for her knowledge and care.

Wonderful! She made my daughter laugh and included her in our conversation and answered questions clearly.

I loved the way this provider spoke to my child even though my child was not responding consistently or making eye contact. I often answer medical questions for my autistic child upon her request because neurotypical communication can be very draining for her. Katherine Theresa Thompson behaved as though I were an interpreter in the conversation and used phrases like ¿your lab results¿ rather than ¿your child's lab results¿ and it felt so affirming of my child's autonomy and ability to process what's being said, even though my child was choosing to communicate mostly through me. My 15 yr old is often infantisized because of her autistic diagnosis and traits, but this interaction was 10/10 fantastic at accommodating her needs while respecting her abilities. Thank you!
