Kathleen attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for undergraduate studies where she majored in Biology and Gender & Women's Studies with minors in Global Health and Leadership. For her graduate studies, she attended Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMU) in Provo, Utah. During PA school, she was on the PA Student Leadership Executive Board and was RMU’s Assembly of Representatives (AOR) representative for the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Since that time, the APC team has grown from four to eight (and counting!); she is now co-lead Burn APC and coordinates the onboarding and education of new Burn APCs. Clinically, Kathleen created the care guidelines for special CEA skin grafts that are now utilized at University of Utah Health Burn Center for patients with extensive burn injuries. She presented a poster of these guidelines at the American Burn Association annual conference in 2022 and received the "Best in Category" award.

Kathleen strives to provide burn survivors with the highest quality care possible and to support them throughout their burn injury journey.

    Kathleen's Research Interests Include:

    - Burn wound care

    - Cultured Epithelial Autografts (CEA)

    - Fractional CO2 laser treatments for hypertrophic scarring

Kathleen and her husband have lived in Salt Lake City since 2013. She is an Ironman triathlete (checked Ironman Wisconsin off her bucket list in 2021), loves biking up SLC's many canyons, and enjoys backpacking, camping, and trail running with her dog, Zia. She often spends her free time baking... cupcakes are her love language.

I don't recall Dr. Ewanowski specifically while I was at the hospital, but I was on some drugs, and my entire care team was fabulous.
