PA Oh identifies, analyzes and recommends on target. Trust this PA to know medicine.
The two issues were 1) I was told she was a little behind when I checked in but never again and it was a 30 minute wait. 2) She looked really harried when she got to me and was reading from her screen most of the time (I assume she was looking at my chart) so I didn't feel like she was at all acquainted with me. I also tried to suggest my plantar fasciitis might be related and that never got addressed. Not bad, just not optimal.

Marilou definitely knows her specialty, but shes quite abrupt with her opinions and attitude. If I were looking for a friend, I wouldnt choose her, but as a medical professional she is outstanding.
As I said, I waited a very long time to see her probably almost an hour, and she spent only a few moments with me, talking very rapidly, and doing a very perfunctory exam. She looked at my MRIs so quickly with me, but I have absolutely no idea what shes talking about, I was left not understanding what my treatment plan should be, and was quite shocked when she asked me to book a follow up exam, which I certainly would not do considering the service that she gave me.
I appreciated her taking the time to answer my questions about my condition.

I was in immense pain & was very concerned. I had been doing too much & couldnt get my pain under control. Difficult walking & couldnt have walked in without my 2 arm canes. We decided to schedule the shots. It took almost a week & physical therapy, & I rested. I also took the maximum dose of of medicine together with ipubrofen. I finally got my back under better control. I decided to wait a bit longer for the shots & notified them I wanted to wait a bit longer.

MARILOU CAREFULLY LISTEN MY QUESTIONS AND GAVE GOOD EXPLANATIONS
She was very patient and answered all my questions. She explained my conditions well based on the MRI results. We couldn't get video to stay working but she tried. Later, I found out that my network was down for area repairs so I think that was the problem.

Exceptional care and concern
Much more thorough than another clinic I experienced.
The care provider (Marilou Oh PA) was thorough, explained results, laid out care options and explained them, clarified all areas of concern or uoncertainty.
They provide me with sheets showing pictures & descriptions for my exercises which helps me immensely. I was assisted with good recommendations for beginning yoga classes & water aerobics & are I retested In my tai chi class twice/wk. & also my deep massage therapy while I was using It. They are all very keen on all skeletal muscles of the body & share so much information to help us. I swear I always walk out feeling better & having learned new things about the body.

I tried to explain how much worse the pain was while she read my MRI. I had read the report an it seemed clear to me that I have major problems. The word "severe" was in the report several times. I was hoping to get an appointment with a surgeon to discuss that option. It was not explained to me why the steroid injection would help me in the long run, just that some people are helped by that but that it doesn't change the structural issues shown in my MRI. I am taking gabapentin and I had experienced worsening pain but she just increased the number of pills I was supposed to take. How or why this was a good choice was not explained. She told me that I would be called by someone to make an appointment for my injections.
I think the negative experience I had, for the first time actually, is due to me addressing a complaint other than the one I scheduled for.

I have come to trust Marilou Oh and value her expertise. I especially appreciate that she listens to me and takes my concerns seriously. She has been absolutely right with every diagnosis and more correct with her recommendations for treatment than any physician I have ever been to. I am finally finding answers for my pain issues of 40 years. With the right diagnoses, the right interventions have been put in place and recommendations for treatments, including physical therapy and patient education. They have dramatically increased my quality of life. I especially appreciation Ms. Oh's willingness to carefully explain x rays so I can understand exactly what is going on in my body instead of grasping at any explanation for why I feel the way I do, including a previous explanation, and dismissal, as "fibromyalgia" with the referral to a pain clinic and the recommendation by another physician that I "take 5 percocet daily", which I found ludicrous. I'm grateful for the U Orthopaedic Clinic and its clinicians for giving me back a life worth living.

once I was seen the PA told me they did not have my med records. (MRI from 2 weeks earlier) I was not asked about this until I showed up to the appointment. I was told they requested the MRI at this time. When I left I was told they had some of my MRI but not what they need to make any medical decision. I would have thought if I was being seen for my herniated disc that the office would have asked or requested any MRI or x-ray. Then I was told they will call in a week to go over my MRI. So I drove 45 min. to the appointment to get told to take some meds and we will call you later to see if we need to do anything else.

She was a bit impersonal and matter of fact. I told her I was struggling. We did not address this.
