  • Mary P. Bronner, MD, is the Carl R. Kjeldsberg Presidential Endowed Chair Professor of Pathology. She is also a tenured professor of pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

    At the Department of Pathology and ARUP Laboratories, and HCI, Dr. Bronner directs all patient care, education, and research efforts within the Anatomic Pathology and Molecular Oncology Division. Her research focuses on molecular oncology and early detection and prevention of gastrointestinal neoplasia arising in chronic inflammatory diseases, such as chronic pancreatitis, Helicobacter pylori gastritis and idopathic inflammatory bowel disease.

    Dr. Bronner holds the Dr. Carl R. Kjeldsberg Presidential Endowed Chair in Pathology. She served as the elected President of the GI Pathology Society, and as an elected Council Memeber of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She was the recipient of the prestigious Arthur Purdy Stout Prize, which recognizes surgical pathologists under the age of 45 whose research have had a major impact on diagnostic pathology. Dr. Bronner is also certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology. She completed her pathology residency training and chief residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and has been on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Washington, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation prior to joining the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories.
