Patrick Hughes, DO, MEHP, FACEP, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at University of Utah Spencer Eccles School of Medicine. He is an emergency physician who focuses on treatment of emergent conditions at University Hospital. He is a member of the teaching faculty at the University and educates resident physicians and medical students.

His interests include simulation, medical education, patient safety and quality improvement. He has been involved in undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, and continuing medical education on multiple levels.

Dr. Hughes received his undergraduate degree from the Lyman Briggs School at Michigan State University. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then earned his Master of Education in Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Hughes completed his emergency medicine residency at Michigan State University and completed a Medical Simulation fellowship at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio.

His research interests include simulation, medical education, disaster medicine, geriatric medicine and pulmonary embolism.
