Rong Xiao, MD, PhD, a full time psychiatrist working for Salt Lake City County Adult Detention Center, a part time Adjunct Assistant Professor (Clinical) working for University of Utah, received her medical degree at West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University and finished her first psychiatry residency at West China Hospital, Sichuan University --- the top 2 and the largest hospital in Mainland China. She earned her Ph.D. at the School of Social Work, University of Southern California. She received training from University Hospital at University of Utah as a general psychiatry resident, a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow, and a chief resident. Dr. Xiao is board certified in Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Her clinical interests include psychosis, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, international mental health and advocacy for children, adults, and their families. Dr. Xiao specializes in Children and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Correction Psychiatry. When she worked full time as an outpatient psychiatrist in the outpatient clinic of University of Utah from 2018 to 2022, her patient's satisfaction rate was above 90%.
