Dr. Gilligan grew up in Maine and went to Tufts University for her undergraduate degree (BA in Psychology). She then moved to California where she met her husband while working on her MS in Kinesiology. After graduate school, she moved to Denver where she worked for several years as a professional research assistant studying exercise in patients with diabetes and PAD before returning to Tufts for medical school. She did the Tufts Maine Track program, spending her third year in a rural hospital on Longitudinal Integrated Curriculum pathway. She moved to Utah for residency and stayed for her nephrology fellowship and faculty position. Sarah has 3 children and, in addition to spending time with her family and pets, she enjoys running, hiking, camping, and enjoying the outdoors. Her professional interests are clinical nephrology and education.
