July 17, 2024MADSEN HEALTH CENTERMy interactions with Dr. Cochella were respectful. I was a little taken aback by her suggestion that I start taking blood pressure medication based on a very small number of blood pressure readings (1 or a few?). Other than that test, I am quite healthy with no family history. It seems like recommending lifestyle modifications should come first, given my overall health status, along with providing decent information on those options. She suggested I cut back on alcohol consumption, which is reasonable. However, she didn't broach salt or caffeine consumption. While I am generally a healthy eater, I consume a lot of salt and coffee. We didn't discuss those things. I did my own research and decided to make adjustments there. I suggested regular BP testing at home. She thought that made sense. So, that's what I'm doing. There are no survey items above about the quality of the doctor recommendations. Based on my knowledge and research, I'd rate those as fair or possibly lower.
