Joint Replacement After Injury

There are two common causes for which a knee or hip joint replacement might be recommended after a traumatic injury. In many cases the hip joint or bones are already in a weakened state due to a degenerative disease, such as osteoporosis or arthritis, then a fall or other type of accident occurs to necessitate a total joint replacement.

The second type of situation involves a healthy joint that may need a total joint replacement, or arthroplasty, due to an accident that occurs damaging the joint.
