Dr. Gary Lowder is an Associate Professor at the School of Dentistry and has 37 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ/TMD). He graduated from BYU and attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, WA. His passion is teaching dental students by helping them to develop excellent clinical skills and celebrating their success as they become exceptional dental professionals.

In addition to teaching, he currently participates in the Faculty Practice Clinic at the University of Utah School of Dentistry seeing private patients for TMD/TMJ diagnosis and treatment, and Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Lowder is one of the few providers of Dental Sleep Medicine care in the northern Utah area. He sees sleep patients, by referral, who are diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea or are CPAP intolerant providing a viable option to CPAP usage. Not only does Dr. Lowder enjoys sharing his expertise in the dental arts, but he also loves family activities, fishing, golf, and gardening.
