  • Fuad Shihab, M.D. is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah. As a transplant nephrologist, he manages and directs the pre- and post-transplant evaluation and management of kidney transplant patients in addition to the evaluation of living donors. He is active in transplant research and speaks frequently at a national level in these areas. He has received multiple scholastic recognitions including Who’s Who in America and America’s Top Doctor in US News and World Report in addition to Faculty Teaching Awards from the School of Medicine.

    Dr. Shihab received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. He completed his Nephrology fellowship training from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia followed by a Transplantation Medicine fellowship at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland. Dr. Shihab is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He has been active in various national societies in his field including the American Society of Transplantation where he chaired the Fellowship Training, the Conflict of Interest and the Development committees. He is also actively involved in various committees in United Network of Organ Transplantation, the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. He is also a board member of the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation. Currently a Fellow of the American College of Physicians; Fellow of The American Society of Nephrology; Fellow of The National Kidney Foundation and Fellow of The American Society of Transplantation.

    Dr. Shihab is a top notch professional at all times in the examining room. He reviews your labs and explains everything to. He is receptive to questions and always shows that he has my health as a priority.     Dr Shihab, is very nice Dr, he listen to you, he reviews your medicines, he makes sure to go over everything with you and makes sure you understand what you need to do, if I have a question later, I can email him and I get respond the same day or in one day. He has the best interest in his patients.

    I appreciate his concern & listen ear. I had really liked his predecessor a lot (he decided to go into research), I was apprehensive about getting a new Doctor. But Dr Shihab has been great.
