Research Statement

David Turok directs a multidisciplinary team dedicated to expanding access to all methods of contraception, especially highly effective methods. Over the years he has conducted several studies addressing use of IUDs for emergency contraception. The HER Salt Lake Contraceptive Initiative is his current research priority. This community-wide intervention removed all barriers to highly effective reversible contraception for women in Salt Lake County and currently follows 4,400 women and evaluates the social, health, educational, and economic impacts of increased contraceptive access. Dr. Turok is also a research mentor and received a NIH K24 midcareer investigator and mentor award for his efforts.
