I would not hesitate to go forward with a knee replacement or other surgical procedures. I have had a number of surgeries with my age and this knee replacement went exceptionally perfect. I had one day for the surgery and at home recovery. I was well prepared with my home environment waiting for me. It was a great comfort to know I could talk with a staff person at anytime if I had questions or experienced pain. The staff was available and ready to receive me after I left the hospital. This did not occur. They did call often to check on my progress and schedule visits when required. Very positive experience

The appointment was a follow up to total knee 5 + years. I complained of pain in the right knee and hip. Occasionally catching in the hip. X rays showed no anomalies, so the discussion was short. I would recommend Dr. Pelt to anyone who needed a total knee. His skill is superior. However, like many highly skilled Doctors, particularly surgeons, he is very, very focused. There was no discussion as to possible sources of the pain or solutions. The X-rays showed no anomalies, so he handed me to a physical therapist for a short discussion and moved on. The pain persist.

When you're planning a surgery you don't have enough time with the doctor to ask all the questions. You need a personal contact with a member of the team to discuss questions and to get help on things you might need to prepare for the surgery and to help with insurance needs that have to be filled out by doctors.

Dr. Pelt is an excellent physician. When we discussed my X-Rays, I was "disappointed" for him to tell me that although I was close to "bone on bone" on the inside of my left knee, he would pursue "other alternatives first" ... Prior to a surgery knee replacement for my left knee. He talked about my weight and seeing an Endocrinologist, plus giving me a Steroid Shot in my left knee. I don't want to prolong my pain and agony, so I was "grumpy" after I left my appointment.
The treatment I have received over all has been the best medical experience I have had. I would and have recommended you all.

Doctor Pelt's bedside manner was absolutely awful. He told me he didn't know why I was there since my joint, which he replaced 7 years ago, looked great. I told him I have been experiencing some pain and wanted to eliminate the joint as the cause of the pain. He was very flippant with me and dismissive making me feel like I had made a bad decision by seeking a consult with him. My husband was with me and felt like we had been treated like criminals for having come in at all. When discussing the next steps, or lack there of, DR Pelt rudely told me "I don't know what's wrong with you so I don't know what I would tell a physical therapist to work on". When discussing a possible MRI, dr Pelt had the room door open as he was leaving speaking to me halfway into the hallway as if he didn't have the time to sit in the room and discuss with me. I left the appointment and clinic in tears and will not be retiring even though dr Pelt did my replacement. I'm sure this survey will fall on deaf ear and not have any recourse but I hope that others don't get treated the way I did in this situation.

Dr. Pelt doesn't give you the time of day. Every appoint I've had with him, he gets up and walks out of the room as you as speaking. I feel very disrespected ever time I see him. I only saw him again because he is the one who did my surgery. A stitch is coming up under the skin from surgery and he wasn't concerned at all about what I wanted to do an dismissed my numbness as being a back problem.

The doctor said he does not know why I have pain, nor suggestions for improvement except to see a spine doctor that he will initiate, and if I do not improve to get back to him.
I received excellent care from Dr. Pelt. He was very thorough in his explanation of my problems. And the course of treatment he advised me to get.
He basically told me how hard the surgery would be & he referenced a recent patient where he had gone ahead with the surgery and she got infection so he had to take it out. He said a couple times how hard it was (surgery). I got the feeling Dr Pelt wanted NOTHING to do with me. He was so nice and personable the first visit. I felt bad about his look and how he repeated how hard it would be. I understand if the risks are too high but he could be nice and encouraging. Why did he finally say 15 lbs loss and the nurse came in with 30-45 lb loss?
While I was in the room I was with the assistant and a ortho fellow. It was a big surgery and the doc and fellow answered all my questions
This was a repeated visit for the same problems previously encountered after my operation. The operation was my sixth similar without any of my current problems previously. PT in recovery was particularly poor. I opted from another source.
The entire experience was excellent. We went away knowing that we were in good hands. We sincerely appreciate Dr. Pelt and his medical team for everything they did for us.

I love the team I have. Only problem is I had to wait to long for necessary tests and I felt they dragged their feet to get prior authorization for surgery which was declined.
I know Dr. Pelt is an excellent surgeon which is why I am going ahead with my surgery, however, both times I have seen him I don't feel like he spent any time with me. He came in quickly, was quick with his solution and then just walked out and left with me with the PA. The second time was the same way. I really wanted to ask some questions of the doctor who was going to do my surgery, but he just left. I felt like he was in a hurry to get to his next patient and I am very worried about feeling the same way the day of my surgery.

Knowledgeable competent staff and physicians
I only met Dr. Pelt briefly; I selected him for surgery because of his availability - Dr. Peters replaced my other knee. After I met him, I reviewed his profile on line and felt more comfortable as regards his training and work in the department. I don't find him very personable but have had a good outcome from surgery.

DR. PELT AND THE PA WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT IF THE INFECTION REMAINS THEY WILL HAVE TO TAKE ALL THE HARDWARE FROM HIP DOWN TO THE ANKLE AND THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DO THAT.

Dr. Pelt was very thorough in trying to figure out reasons for my continual pain. He looked over the notes from the MRI's & operative report to do this also. Still don't understand why I'm having the pain. He was very good at telling me that doing an exploratory surgery doesn't always turn out with great results.
Doc Pelt is a busy man, I understand this. but this will effect my way of life for the remainder of my life. I could use a few more minutes of his valuable time.,

Dr. Pelt has made me feel like he is genuinely concerned about me and my leg. He explains things simply enough that I can understand what he thinks needs too be done, how he intends to do it, and includes my thoughts in the process. I feel totally included in all that is taking place.
Re: #4. I have already recommended the U of U medical system to MANY friends down here in Moab. I felt like the entire process was seamless from beginning to end. I never imagined health care could be administered so professionally and competently. I was/am blown away.
It is amazing to observe, Dr. Pelt and his team, keep track of every detail related to my and I am sure other, Knee Replacement surgery Patients. So far, I am sure my knee will be as good as new once I heal from the knee surgery. Anyone who may have need for knee/hip surgery cannot go wrong with, Dr. Pelt, he is one of the best in the University system.
