Dr. Fair received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, completed his Pediatric residency at UT Southwestern in Austin at Dell Children´s Hospital, and his Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology Fellowship here at the University of Utah. He also received additional training in Clinical Research through the Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation Program at the University of Utah. He has also received a Utah Certificate of Palliative Education (UCoPE).

Dr. Fair joined the University of Utah faculty in 2016 and is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology.

Dr. Fair serves as the Director of the Primary Children’s Hospital Solid Tumor Program. He also is the Founder and Medical Director of the Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Survivorship Program at Primary Children’s Hospital. He serves as the Director of the Huntsman Cancer Institute AYA Program and as the co-Medical Director of the Huntsman Intermountain Adolescent and Young Adult Program (HIAYA). He is the Founder and co-Medical Director of the University of Utah, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Huntsman Cancer Institute’s Oncofertility Programs. He also co-Founded and served for over 5 years as the Associate Director of the Primary Children’s Hospital Supportive Oncology for Adolescents and Pediatrics Program (SOAP).

At the national level, Dr. Fair has served on numerous committees and steering committees. Some of these include serving on the steering committees for the Soft Tissue Sarcoma Group and Rare Tumor Group within the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). He also served as a member of the AYA Responsible Investigator (RI) Group within COG. He currently serves on many National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) AYA Guideline Committees, and has previously served on the NCCN Neuroblastoma Guideline Committee and the Wilm's Tumor Committee. He is also a leader in the Oncofertility Consortium. He also serves on advisory boards for numerous non-profit and philanthropic organizations benefiting pediatric and AYA cancer causes. Dr. Fair has also been active in advocating for gaps in insurance coverage for cancer patients, playing a lead role in changing policy at the insurance provider and legislative level.

Dr. Fair´s research interests include improving survival outcomes for children and AYAs diagnosed with solid tumors, specifically clinical trial development for sarcomas and rare tumors. He is also involved in research investigating improved outcomes and care for survivors of pediatric and AYA cancer. Another area of research is the gonadal and fertility function of cancer survivors, and the understanding of the gonadal toxic and gonadal protective agents in cancer therapy
