Dr. Smith then spent 6 years (2005-2011) in a university-based outpatient clinic where she was the only pediatrician. She served as a preceptor for family medicine residents, medical students and physician assistant students. She was also an ongoing community preceptor for pediatric residents at the University of Utah during their continuity clinic experience – precepting a total of four residents in five years.

In 2010, Dr. Smith returned to the University of Utah part-time as adjunct faculty in the University Pediatrics clinic where her main responsibility was teaching third-year medical students and interns. In 2011, she left community practice to spend all of her time in the School of Medicine. She is currently as Associate Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics. She has a faculty practice at University Pediatric Clinic and precepts medical students and residents in clinic.

She is a Core Clinical Content Director for the Pediatrics Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship. She is also the Medical Director of the University Pediatric Clinic and the Interim Medical Director for Sugar House Clinic Pediatrics.

Her clinical interests include well child care, adolescent health care, educating families and maximizing mental health care in the primary care setting. She assisted with the transition of the Division of General Pediatrics to the EpicCare electronic medical record in 2011. She continues to work with the EpicCare team to develop templates and complete quality improvement within the EMR.

We LOVE Dr. Smith. She is always so good with our kids, and communicates with us to put us at ease.

    UH HOSPITALS AND CLINICS

Dr Smith is exceptional with my boys. She is also an amazing listener and able to help the parents get the information we need to take away from the visit as well. She is amazing

    UH HOSPITALS AND CLINICS

my son has been seeing Dr. Smith for 15 years. We drive nearly an hour to see her. She's the best!

    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

She is very good at what she does. She spent time with us explaining things and thought process behind recommendations.

    UH HOSPITALS AND CLINICS

Dr. Smith is amazing. My main reason for not recommending is how incredibly inconvenient getting to the practice is. The construction is a mess. The parking is terrible. Valet parking is ALWAYS full. I have to budget in an extra 20 min to allow enough time to get to my appointment on time not including travel time.

    UH HOSPITALS AND CLINICS

As the parent of a patient I felt that my responses were frequently questioned as if I were lying. I understand they're making sure the child is safe and healthy but I would like my visit to feel less like an interrogation and more like a conversation.

    University Hospital

Dr. Smith has been our family's pediatrician for many years. Every time we visit, we leave feeling cared for, listened to and with a thoughtful treatment plan. Dr. Smith works hard and focused on listening to my children's needs-She is a great hard working doctor.
