Explain who she is in the dept and in relation to her Resident. Is she the Director of the Residency Program? etc.

Katie Kaput is very good with reading my Dexcom reports and numbers and she helps me adjust my insulin pump according to the Dexcom read outs. I have had several Endocrinologists in my lifetime of having Type 1 Diabetes and she is by far the best Dr in helping me keep my glucose numbers in range because she understands the insulin pump so well. She is also very good at helping me understand why she changes things and makes sure I know how to adjust settings if I need to on my own.

I left very disappointed. Not only do you have to wait 3 months to even be seen, but I also left feeling like I had little direction and clarity. If Im doing everything right then why do I feel horrible. I wish I would have been able to get some blood work done for peace of mind at least.

I am nervous about adding drugs to the list I am taking.
I think she has been so helpful in helping me manage my diabetes.
The previous experience I had with this medical procedure with a different doctor was extremely traumatic and horrible. However, Dr. Kaput did an excellent job with the procedure and also with making me feel comfortable and informed about what was happening. She made sure I always knew what she was doing and what to expect. She (as well as the nurse) consistently checked in on me throughout the procedure and made me feel safe and in control. Overall, this procedure was much better than the last time, and if I need to do it again I will feel much less stressed about it. I'm very grateful to have her as my doctor now.

Wildly disappointed. I waited 2 1/2 months for this appointment only to get a curt "You're fine, I don't know why your doctor sent you to me." She didn't acknowledge my symptoms in the least and tried to attribute my sleeping 15 hours a day to work stress. I would not recommend Dr. Kaput to anyone.
When explaining a possible medication, I struggled a little bit understanding because of the medical terms used that I was unfamiliar with.

Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience with this provider. Perhaps it was because it was the end of the day or perhaps she just did not care to offer her expertise, assistance and concern. Either way, it was was of no help and I left feeling worse than when I arrived. I will not be returning to this provider.
I felt that Dr Kaput and the resident working with her were aware of hyperparathyroidism and we're going to be able to get me treatment. I was happy and relieved.

my doctor was very short with me. when I asked her a question she stopped me and told me she was merely explaining the treatment options, almost as if I should not ask questions. she told me that I had to decide what treatment option was best, despite limiting my ability to ask additional questions. she was emotionless. when i asked for more information that would help me make a decision about the best treatment option, she told me she would probably provide me with a pamphlet. I'm sure she sees a dozen people a day with conditions similar to me, but this is new - and very scary - to me and her knowledge, experience, and expertise as a medical professional was exactly what I was seeking in a doctor. as a person, her compassion and kindness would have made the entire experience less anxiety ridden. I held my tears back the best I could until she left the room becausess it didn't seem to me that showing any kind of emotion would do me any favors with her.
didn't give me much new information, no suggestions for care or for anything more I could do for my condition. Didn't want to do additional blood tests, just assumed my results from before were still accurate. It took me at least a year to get a referral to an endo, and I'm not impressed whatsoever.
Dr Kaput was concerned about my anxiety level as I was still anxious about my new conditions at that point and didn't have enough information yet. I also was jumping around a bit and just trying to get everything in. Dr Kaput didn't act rushed at all and spent a hour with me. She reassured me about my condition and eased my worries. Many providers do not need to know much about parathyroid disease so I had a lot of questions that needed answers. She seems to be very methodological and detailed oriented. I like that because they follow the process to a "t" and look at what the studies and data shows before making any conclusions. She very careful and has her own way of communicating results to you via My Chart. I feel she really puts forth a lot effort to carefully analyze your individual circumstances. She ordered a 24 hr kidney function test. I'm so concerned about my kidneys as they been through so much stress. And we can't prove I had kidney stones so infection or kidney disease are the other two possibilities. I know once kidneys start to decline you're on that slippery slope. She also sent me calcium diet information and told me exactly how much vitamin d and calcium to take. She emphasized the importance of Dexa scans and monitoring my calcium and vitamin d levels. I don't have ovaries and can't take estrogen due to my severe endometriosis history. I been premenopausal or postmenopausal since my early 30s and my prior pcp wasn't paying attention to this stuff. But I also didn't think about it either. I'm so please to have finally seen an endocrinologist when I'm prone to having endocrine problems.

From the time the dr. came into the room(nearly 15 late) she barely looked at the iPad/ video screen. Asked me what dose of meds I was taking when SHE was the one in front of my chart- who prescribed them just one month ago. I offered to attempt to locate my RX and look for the dosage, but she then told me SHE could look. I would hope so, considering the chart was right in her hands. We discussed my symptoms, and how I felt I was improving over the past 30 days. With this only being the second time I've ever seen this dr., I was very discouraged with her attitude and her GUESSES as to all of my symptoms regarding hypothyroidism. Rather than acknowledging my symptoms, for both this visit and the last- she attempted to tell me all the reasons I could have these symptoms OTHER than it associated with my thyroid. I feel she has tried to convince me that my symptoms are NOT related to thyroid-giving examples of "you could have these numbers from being sick", or blaming my cpap therapy on my fatigue. The fact is, my thyroid numbers were very low. I have felt a little better over the last 30 days. I do know that my insurance does change in 2021. Dr. Kaput told me that would be a problem, because she doesn't take that insurance, and unless I wanted to pay out of network, I'd need to change doctors. I asked her for a referral and her response was " there is a woman dr. at another clinic- she was from New Mexico.... but she didn't know her name. Unprofessional. No help at all. Dr. Kuput continued to look away from me the entire visit which was prob 10 min total. Told me she would see me for a follow-up in 6 months, refilled my meds for a year and ended the visit. 2 visits for me was more than enough. I will find a new dr. to work with me and my thyroid issues.
Dr. Kaput is awesome! She always takes time for my questions and has always allowed for my suggestions in my plan of care.

I've e tried to get my primary care doctor to address this medical concern for 5 years. I finally got a referral to the endocrinologist that I needed! It was an amazing, reassuring visit. This doctor is kind and very approachable. Now if it didn't take so long to see a surgeon, things would be perfect! The new Sugar House location is so clean!
I'm new to diabetes; this was my first real visit with a doctor about it. While the doctor seemed to be very knowledgeable, she was going through things at a VERY rapid pace. I could not keep up with her, especially as I was writing things down. I felt rushed, and confused about some things when I left. If she would have slowed down, shown some understanding that everything was brand new to me and just let me catch up to her, I think I would have appreciated the care that she gave me a lot more.
Negative, Because the doctor decided care follow up without discussion with me. I am not okay with her decision.
I got all the answers to my questions and felt like everything that could be done was done.
Dr. Kaput has a good bedside manner and she seems concerned about me and wants to make sure that I am included in decisions

Dr. Kaput is the first endocrinologist doctor (out of four) that has seriously discussed treating osteoporosis on multiple fronts. rather than just medication. I appreciate her willingness to address my concerns and plan a strategy rather than dictate a treatment plan.
No bad experiences
Ive been seeing Dr Kaput since having a hypophysectomy for a tumor in Aug 2017. I liked her so much as a fellow that I followed her to the Sugarhouse clinic after she finished her fellowship. She is good at explaining things, and Im comfortable asking her anything.
