She earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from The University of Georgia and was employed at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center in Athens, Georgia before attending medical school. She received her medical degree at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan and later completed her residency at National Jewish Health with Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. With a desire to continue to receive superb training and explore her personal hobbies in the mountain west, she then completed Endocrinology Fellowship Training at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
