  • Rachele M. McCarthey, MD, Assistant Professor (Clinical), received her medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. She completed her residency in the triple board program (pediatrics, psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry) at the University of Utah. She is a member of the child and adolescent psychiatry division at the University of Utah. Dr. McCarthey is board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, general psychiatry and pediatrics. Dr. McCarthey is an outpatient psychiatrist working through the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute's Behavioral Health Clinic. Dr. McCarthey's clinical interests include general child and adolescent psychiatry, eating disorders including family based treatment, anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Dr. McCarthey is the medical director of the HMHI downtown and Farmington clinics leading a large group of physicians, advanced practice clinicians, therapists and staff. Dr. McCarthey is the ambulatory chief value officer representing the department of psychiatry. Dr. McCarthey also is interested in refugee psychiatry and serves as the staff psychiatrist at THRIVE Center for Survivors of Torture, an organization dedicated to treating survivors of torture.
