Patient Rating
The patient rating score is an average of all responses on our patient experience survey. The rating averages scores for all questions about care from our providers.
The scale on which responses are measured is 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.
Patient Comments
Patient comments are gathered from our patient experience survey and displayed in their entirety. Dr. Colonna and team were very thorough. I found her advice to be thoughtful and helpful.
she is kind and empathetic towards her patients. Helping guide the patient and all the while letting the patient process and choose their own path of treatment.
Sarah is so sweet! She explained things in a way I can understand. She is very knowledgeable.
She basically said how long do you choose to live. Based on that here are your options.
Dr. Colonna was amazing, she never told me what I should do, but educated me on my options. She gave me HOPE. She is very well educated in BRCA and provides you with wonderful resources and options.
Open, honest, provided alternatives for treatment that would help make my daily life better. Took the time with me to help me understand my options. So grateful!
Fantastic at answering my questions, didn't feel rushed at all, told me about options and were very positive and upbeat
Dr colonna is an amazing doctor. She is so smart, collaborative and patient. I highly, highly recommend her.
Sarah is fantastic! Really explained options and went into detail about risks/benefits
Very friendly. Interested in me. I didn't feel rushed. Made sure I felt taken care of.
I felt so comfortable and really appreciate the amount of time the doctor spent with me.
There aren't many answers for preventing cancer. My doctor did the best she could but I don't feel like it was necessary to go to this appointment.
She was wonderful. I felt she truly understood what I needed and talked through the options and asked me how I would like to proceed. She's very kind, I appreciate her time with me.
I am so thankful for Dr. Colonna. I wish I had found her 15 years ago. Not only does she listen, she demonstrates that she cares. She treats me with dignity and respect and is receptive to my educating myself about my health. I feel supported, which is a really big deal to me personally, but especially being a high-risk patient. I wish every one I knew who is managing hereditary high risk cancer factors could be seen by her. There is no measure to her value in what she does and how she does it.
I was very happy with the doctor and her recommendations
Dr Colonna was extremely thorough and comprehensive and answered every question I had in depth. She is so caring and personal while being extremely knowledgeable. She explained the research and my options very in depth.
Doctor Colonna was excellent and I have already recommended her to two other people to be seen.
Sarah Colonna is a really lovely person. She's very good at what she does and has excellent bedside manner. She was very kind and thorough and made me feel very well cared for.
She is fantastic!
so caring and kind thank you
Dr Colonna treated me with kindness and respect. She listened to my concerns and gave me options on my care. She is definitely a professional.
Phenomenal physician - really knows her stuff and is extremely kind and caring as well.
Dr Colonna is able to collaborate on medical issues that have unclear ends or trajectories
Dr. Colonna is the most intelligent and empathetic doctor I've met at the U of Utah. She leads with clinical excellence and cares deeply about you and your questions. A tremendous professional.
Dr. Colonna seemed oblivious to being a full hour late. She didn't introduce herself. At first I couldn't tell if she was the physician. She was unaware of my surgical history, had not reviewed recent imaging, and was not aware of the type of breast cancer in my family (all in my chart). It did not instill confidence that I had to bring these up, each seemed a surprise to her. Point blank, with no guidance, she began asking me, "Do you need X? Do you need Y?" It would have been beneficial to receive evidence based recommendations from her, rather than be asked to make decisions with a dearth of input or advice. I had to inquire about future follow-up. Again, it seemed like planning/explaining this should've been initiated by her. I read my chart after the visit and discovered that it contains inaccuracies, including my breastfeeding status. Overall interactions felt "off" compared to other physicians I've seen at The U of U. This was an expensive appointment. I was disappointed.
She was very personable and listened to me and had wonderful input for me.
Compassionate health care provider who listens!
I found Sarah V. Colonna MD. warn and caring, comprehensive feedback and a lot of positive energy extremely likeable.
They only wanted to talk about 1 drug. Any other options, questions, drug side effects, I had to ask.
Dr. Colonna will put you at ease with her compassion and extensive knowledge. She is kind, very thoughtful and very thorough. I'm grateful she's my oncologist.
Dr. Colonna is an incredible physician. She took a substantial amount of time to talk with me about my specific medical history & risks and answered every question that we had. She was calm but direct. I entirely trust her to handle my care moving forward. Her clinic demonstrates the highest level of teamwork, and makes me feel confident about the future direction of medicine.
Very good concern for me and good recommendations. However, I wish I had been told prior to my appointment to bring information they were requesting while I was there so I could have felt like I had a more complete assessment at the appointment.
The interaction was very informative
Dr. Sarah Colonna is a genuine and caring doctor. She respected me as an individual with healthcare knowledge. She still provided advice that she would any woman. I am grateful to have found her as a provider for women.
I met her for the first time at this appointment and felt like she listened carefully to me and helped me understand my condition clearly. She was friendly, engaging and helpful.
I really liked Dr. Colonna. She made eye contact, listened attentively, asked questions, and included me in decision-making.
Dr. Colonna is legitimately the best doctor I've ever been to. She was super easy to talk to, a great listener, and instantly made me feel comfortable. I trust her expertise and judgement.
all were excellent!
She is very friendly and caring. She explained things clearly
Superb - great listener; highly sophisticated; excellent care plan
