What Is Urgent Care?

Sickness doesn’t always happen between 8-5. We’re open all day—plus weekends and evenings—when you need care right away for an illness or injury that isn’t life-threatening. No appointment is necessary! All you need to do is walk in.

Urgent Care Services

  • Flu and fever
  • Earaches
  • Nausea
  • Rashes and allergic reactions
  • Animal and insect bites
  • Sprains and minor bone fractures
  • Minor cuts requiring stitches
  • Urinary tract/bladder infections

Virtual Urgent Care Visits

Receive care from the comfort of your home: See a U of U Health medical provider using a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Virtual urgent care visits are for a range of non-life-threatening conditions. They are available for patients of any age.

Insurance Coverage

Urgent Care: Most insurance plans typically bill urgent care visits like a regular primary care visit.

Virtual Urgent Care: Many plans cover telemedicine services. Contact your insurance carrier to verify coverage.

Types of Testing We Offer

We do not perform lab work in urgent care. However, we do offer the following tests for our patients:

  • Glucose,
  • HCG (pregnancy),
  • Urinalysis (UA),
  • Strep, and
  • Flu.

We will also conduct X-rays, if needed.

Should I Go To Urgent Care or the ER?

When an emergency strikes, make sure you know where to go for care. This checklist is a quick guide for common emergencies. If the situation is life threatening, call 911 or go to the emergency room. (Download printable version of this chart.)
