Reilly Hobbs, MD, MBS joins the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery.
He is a native of Northern Michigan and received his undergraduate degree from Calvin University and a graduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan before moving to Philadelphia where he completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed fellowships in both adult and congenital cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Michigan where he received broad experiences in adult and pediatric heart surgery. Dr. Hobbs is excited to contribute to the clinical, research, and educational excellence at the University of Utah and Intermountain Health/Primary Children’s Hospital. In his spare time, Dr. Hobbs enjoys spending time with his wife, Rachael, and their three children. His hobbies include running, hiking, biking, guitar, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Hobbs’ clinical interests include:
• The full spectrum of neonatal and pediatric heart surgery
• Hybrid neonatal surgical interventions
• Heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices
• Adult congenital heart surgery
• Aortic valve repair and valve-sparing aortic root replacements
• The Ross procedure in children and adults
• Airway surgery in children
Dr. Hobbs’ research interests include:
• Biomarkers of neurologic and cellular injury following congenital heart surgery
• Transplantation in children and adults with congenital heart disease
• Aortic valve repair, the Ross procedure, and late aortic root procedures following congenital heart surgery
