  • Dr. Majersik is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Utah, School of Medicine. After receiving her B.S. in Physics from Harvey Mudd College (Claremont, CA), she served in the Air Force as a Scientific Analyst at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base National Air Intelligence Center. In 1997, she attended medical school at University of Vermont (Burlington, VT) where she fell in love with the neurosciences. She completed internship and neurology residency at the University of Utah and then decided to seek additional expertise in stroke by completing a vascular neurology fellowship at University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). While at Michigan, she earned a master's degree in clinical research design and biostatistics through their School of Public Health.

In 2008, Dr. Majersik returned to Salt Lake City to establish her vascular neurology practice within the Stroke Center at the University of Utah. Her clinical practice includes evaluating and treating acute strokes in the hospital and emergency department, managing patients on the inpatient general neurology service, and providing outpatient consultation in the stroke clinic, including urgent referrals. She has a particular interest in rare single gene disorders causing stroke (such as CADASIL), hypercoaguable states (such as Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome), and vascular malformations (such as cavernous malformations and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasias). She also provides emergency consultation to stroke patients at community hospitals via the telestroke network.

In 2010, she became Director of the University of Utah Stroke Center. Dr. Majersik is currently studying the genetic underpinnings of stroke in large families in Utah and more common polygenetic disorders leading to increased risk of stroke as well as conducting a study on motor recovery after stroke.

She lives here in Salt Lake City and enjoys hiking the mountains and raising her family.

In my opinion, Dr. Majersik is A-1 superior in the field of neurology and is equally deserving of a +10 rating. To further, she always goes a step or more further in assuring that I get the care and attention deserved. As an example, before I even got home, I received a call from a Medicare/Medicaid Assistant to readily assist me with applying for all the services needed. I truly respect Dr. Majersik for her knowledge and true care and concern for her patients. THANK YOU, DR. MAJERSIK!
