I was informed at this appointment that after being told my breast cancer was taken all out and was very small and they got all the margins and I should take medication every day for 5 years I was told at this appointment that I should have a double mastectomy! Surprise to me, since no one had mentioned this to me before as a possibility plus this was the case because of the gene I have. Crazy

When I had a bad experience with my IV during surgery she gave me a letter so I could show other doctors that I am having surgery with that I need special IV needs. She went above and beyond her normal duties to help me in my future.

I explained everything in my previous answer. Her surgical skills are wonderful. Her listening skills got better over time. In the beginning, I did not feel heard at all. I was able to express this to her, and she did make an effort to listen and include me in decision making. There seemed to be a number of missteps along the way with such things as fitting me for a support bra (this never happened), when I got the flu, I didn't know whom to talk to about drug interactions, waiting for an explanation of results, etc.

my physician and resident gave great care throughout the procedure. I was upset that an assistant was not present on the room to help the physician and run for more supplies when need. The Dr. had to take off sterile gloves 3 times to go out of the room for supplies for the procedure. I had concerns that the procedure was done in an exam room and not a procedure room. Had this been the case the dr would not have had to leave the room during the procedure to get supplies. Very unsatisfactory staffing assisting.

Dr Brownson came in late and immediately launched into a discussion at a million miles a minute while she watched me take notes furiously. Only if I stopped her to answer a question did she stop. After 1/2 hour, she said she had to go see another patient. That was it - and she suggested scheduling a follow up zoom call on the 12th, which was later changed to the 19th. Her interpersonal doctor to patient skills were lacking. I don't doubt that she knew her subject matter, but it did not leave us feeling confident. Her overall explanation of my situation and treatment was curt, unsatisfactory and almost insulting. I learned very little about the actual aspects of surgery.

Dr. Brownson provides exceptional care, is extremely informative, and takes time to answer any and all questions. She is very compassionate and makes me feel as if I'm in the best possible hands. I implicitly trust her with my life.

At first Dr Brownson wanted to do a lumpectomy while I wanted to a mastectomy, it took a while to come to an agreement, but she finally agreed to my wishes. I understand she feels it may be better for me to have the lesser surgery, but I have my reasons.

Dr. Brownson is absolutely the best! She takes time to listen to me, answers all my questions, explains everything in detail so that I can make informed decisions. Dr. Brownson deserves 100 stars not just 10!
