Dr Brownson came in late and immediately launched into a discussion at a million miles a minute while she watched me take notes furiously. Only if I stopped her to answer a question did she stop. After 1/2 hour, she said she had to go see another patient. That was it - and she suggested scheduling a follow up zoom call on the 12th, which was later changed to the 19th. Her interpersonal doctor to patient skills were lacking. I don't doubt that she knew her subject matter, but it did not leave us feeling confident. Her overall explanation of my situation and treatment was curt, unsatisfactory and almost insulting. I learned very little about the actual aspects of surgery.
I will make an in office visit and she will be able to further evaluate.

Dr. Brownson is not only an excellent surgeon, but a caring one. She's been really fundamental to my journey of healing from breast cancer. From the first time I met her to my surgery and after care I have always had the utmost confidence in her ability to provide me with the best of care. When I had a bad experience with my IV during surgery she gave me a letter so I could show other doctors that I am having surgery with that I need special IV needs. She went above and beyond her normal duties to help me in my future.
Dr. Brownson was wonderful in providing me with test results and their meaning, information on how it affects my future treatment, and the alternative treatment paths including their risks and benefits. She answered all of my questions and concerns in understandable terms and with respect. I felt very comfortable and confident in the treatment plans we agreed upon. I know I am getting the best possible care and would highly recommend Dr. Brownson.

Her explanation was clear. We talked about possible surgeries but not in detail.
I was asked if I was agreeable to do all of the tests recommended, which I was. We haven't reached the point of conversation about proposed treatment and my opinion of that.
I was informed at this appointment that after being told my breast cancer was taken all out and was very small and they got all the margins and I should take medication every day for 5 years I was told at this appointment that I should have a double mastectomy! Surprise to me, since no one had mentioned this to me before as a possibility plus this was the case because of the gene I have. Crazy
I was very satisfied with my visit w/staff, especially DR. Brownson. She is personable, caring, & at times funny, plus she did my breast surgery & got me through it, plus gave my family hope that all may be well. She is definitely a role model for future PAs, etc.

She's the best soulful Doctor your Hospital has! She's down to earth, kind & non-judgemental. She's just herself, shares her personality & her feelings--it's fantastic! Unlike most of my medical experiences (I have significant heart problems) I feel like she actually hears me & understands my perspective as well as my multiple health problems. She may be the most loving & powerful doctor I've seen, ever! I wish every doctor was more like her. I wish every breast cancer patient could be under her care. I know because I initially had a different breast cancer Doctor & that Doctor (Sorry, it's Rosenthal) lacked every positive trait Dr. Bronson has. If I hadn't have found Dr. Brownson, I would not be doing as well as I am today with my breast cancer. I'm beginning year three, & my last two mammograms were cancer free! Give her a bonus!
She is the most compassionate and kind Doctor during my cancer treatment. She makes you feel as you are the most important person in the exam room! My favorite Doctor of all time!!

I explained everything in my previous answer. Her surgical skills are wonderful. Her listening skills got better over time. In the beginning, I did not feel heard at all. I was able to express this to her, and she did make an effort to listen and include me in decision making. There seemed to be a number of missteps along the way with such things as fitting me for a support bra (this never happened), when I got the flu, I didn't know whom to talk to about drug interactions, waiting for an explanation of results, etc.

my physician and resident gave great care throughout the procedure. I was upset that an assistant was not present on the room to help the physician and run for more supplies when need. The Dr. had to take off sterile gloves 3 times to go out of the room for supplies for the procedure. I had concerns that the procedure was done in an exam room and not a procedure room. Had this been the case the dr would not have had to leave the room during the procedure to get supplies. Very unsatisfactory staffing assisting.

At first Dr Brownson wanted to do a lumpectomy while I wanted to a mastectomy, it took a while to come to an agreement, but she finally agreed to my wishes. I understand she feels it may be better for me to have the lesser surgery, but I have my reasons.
