Rana Jawish, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Epidemiology, Department of Medicine, and the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. She serves as the mental health faculty lead for the Stillbirth Center of Excellence, as Medical Lead of HMHI's Nurturing Emotional Support Transitioning (NEST) IOP, and as affiliate faculty for the Program of Addiction Research, Clinical Care, Knowledge, and Advocacy (PARCKA).

Dr. Jawish is an addiction-trained perinatal psychiatrist at Huntsman Mental Health Institute whose clinical work focuses on improving women's mental health and expanding access to evidence-based care for pregnant individuals with substance use and mood disorders. In July 2026, she was awarded a five-year National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23DA065955) to develop transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as a novel treatment for methamphetamine use disorder during pregnancy. Her research focuses on advancing innovative neuromodulation approaches, particularly TMS, for perinatal substance use and mood disorders, with the goal of improving maternal and infant outcomes. Her broader research interests include reducing barriers to mental health care and addressing health disparities among pregnant individuals with substance use and psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Jawish is board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She was recently selected as a member of the 2026 Career Development Institute for Psychiatry (CDI), a national program dedicated to developing the next generation of academic psychiatry investigators.
