Announcer: "The Health Minute" produced by University of Utah Health.

Interviewer: Five things to do to be a healthier you. Dr. Troy Madsen, what are they?

Dr. Madsen: Okay, so number one, eat better. Have some fruit every morning with your breakfast. It's really simple. Just grab a banana, grab an apple, something like that to start your day.

Number two, drink lots of water. If you take a refillable bottle to work with you, you're going to drink more water, avoid other sugary drinks and it gets you up out of your seat.

Number three, exercise. Do something for 30 minutes, three times a week. Get out and walk, bike, run, anything to get out.

Number four, improve your sleep. You can do this by getting the TV out of your room and also avoiding looking at your cell phone just before you go to bed.

Number five, be grateful. Studies have shown that if you can express gratitude, it's going to improve your psychological health. It's just the simple things. Keep it simple. Start small. Build from there.
