Patients often tell me how a cancer diagnosis affects all aspects of their lives. It not only is a tumultuous, uncertain medical experience. It also disrupts life at home, work, school, and in the community. Cancer and its treatments can impair physical function and can even result in disability. I’m a physician who specializes in cancer rehabilitation medicine. The goal of this area of medicine is to restore and improve physical function.

Huntsman Cancer Institute Breaks Ground on 205,000-Square-Foot Expansion of Cancer Hospital

Today patients, donors, dignitaries, and staff of Huntsman Cancer Institute celebrated the groundbreaking of the next major expansion on the cancer campus. The Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers at HCI will contain eight stories, with a floor dedicated to women’s cancers; a new endoscopy center; increased services for blood and marrow transplant patients; an expansion of the HCI Wellness and Integrative Health Center; and 48 new inpatient hospital rooms
