Announcer: The Health Minute, produced by University of Utah Health.

Interviewer: Is there a health benefit to avoiding gluten? Registered Dietitian Theresa Dvorak, what do you say?

Theresa: Really avoiding gluten, it should only be for people who have celiac disease because gluten-free products are actually less nutrient dense, and so they may not actually be a helpful option for many people. And so, if you're looking for a healthier gut and to overall feel better, the key is really incorporating more whole foods. So less processed foods, high in fiber, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Overall a less processed foods diet. And this will not only help you to feel better but will also lead to better weight management.
